Start your Ellip Workflows Virtual Machine

The Ellip Workflows is a Virtual Machine (VM) that provides scientific developers with an Exploitation Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). It consists of a development environment for processor integration and testing, and a framework for Cloud provisioning. The Ellip Workflows PaaS allows you to plug scientific applications written in a variety of languages (e.g. Java, C++, IDL, Python, R), then deploy, automate, manage and scale them in a very modular way. The algorithm integration is performed from within a dedicated Virtual Machine, running initially as a simulation environment (sandbox mode) that can readily scale to production (cluster mode). Accessed from an harmonized Shell environment, support tools also facilitate the data access and workflow management tasks.

Create an Ellip Workflows VM

To create your own Ellip Workflows VM:

  • Access the Cloud Dashboard (see Cloud Dashboard)
  • Click on plus.png to create a new Ellip Workflows
  • Type the Ellip Workflows name
  • Select the Ellip Workflows template:
  • Click on Create
  • Wait for the Ellip Workflows to be deployed
  • Annotate the <ellip_workflow_host> and <cloud_username> values:
  • Follow this guide to connect to your VM, using your <ellip_workflow_host> and <cloud_username>.

Important Note

While accessing via SSH, you can receive the message:

The Configuration Manager is installing all the required software.
No user is allowed via ssh until this process is finished.

It means that the Configuration Manager is doing the configuration. Usually it takes from 5 to 10 minutes to complete its work, depending on the network and the underlying infrastructure load. Just wait until the following message is shown:

This system is for the exclusive use of authorized users only. All
activity may be logged and/or monitored.
Unauthorized or improper use of this system may result in administrative
disciplinary action and/or civil and criminal penalties. By
continuing to use this system you indicate your awareness of and
consent to these terms and conditions of use.
LOG OFF IMMEDIATELY if you do not agree to the conditions stated in this warning.

After this setup time, you will be ready to start preparing your work environment on the VM.
